Rigging for Film – Advanced Scaffolding in association with SOS Training Ltd.

This programme, aimed at riggers in the film industry, is a combination course; participants will have one week’s training on tube and fitting scaffolds and rigging for film, followed by the 10-day certified Advanced Scaffolding programme. The course covers the following:
Days One to Five:
• Relevant Legislation and Guidelines (C.O.P. TG20-13)
• Method Statements and Risk Assessments
• Manual Handling – best practises
• Harness inspections
• Scaffolding terminology and components
• Inspecting materials, ground conditions and setting out
• Erecting independent scaffolds, Towers and Birdcages
• Bracing, Ties, Ladders, Ropes and Knots commonly used
• Housekeeping
• Reading and understanding more complex scaffold designs
• Form filling regarding hand-overs, checklists 1 & 2, GA3’s and scaff-tags
• Theory preparation, homework and revision
• Dealing with clients and other trades, organising and controlling the labour and materials for the task. Monitoring and reviewing risks, carrying out Tool box talks with own staff.
Days Six to Nine
• Theory Assessment – 1 hour
• 3 Practical Assessments over 4 days
Day 10
• Course Review and Summary

Participant Profile:
This intensive programme is aimed at candidates with experience in the film industry. Participants should have their Basic Scaffolding card for at least one year, as well as a current Safepass card and Manual Handling, and participants should have some experience with tube and fitting scaffolds.
