The Safety Curtain or Fire Curtain is a heavy steel clad fire proof curtain that in an emergency can be dropped in along the front of the stage to seal the stage and back-stage areas from the auditorium and front of house areas in the Theatre. It is some times referred to as the Iron. In this sequence we see it raised or flown out to reveal the stage and after a pause, being lowered in again. You will notice that as it reaches the stage, it slows down. The path of the Fire Curtain cannot be obstructed by scenery or props.
